Marlon Wayans: God Loves Me, HBO Max’s upcoming comedic special, is set to be released and available for viewing on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 3 a.m. ET/ 12:01 p.m. PT.
Wayans’ third show with HBO Max, following Marlon Wayans: You Know What I Mean in 2021. Marlon Wayans: God Loves Me was written and sung by Wayans and produced by Troy Miller. The hour-long show is executive produced by Rick Alvarez, Michael Rotenberg, Steve Harris, Miller, and Wayans.
The formal logline for the HBO Max Original Comedy special is as follows:
“Wayans delivers an uproarious hour-long performance at Atlanta’s Center Stage Theater, releasing his spot-on mannerisms and daring physical humor to address one of pop culture’s most notorious recent events – “the smack” at the 94th Academy Awards® celebration.”

The original teaser for Marlon Wayans: God Loves Me was released on YouTube on February 18, 2023. It starts with Wayans riffing on the smack fight between Chris Rock and Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars.
He then describes his friendship with Rock, referring to him as a “cruel stepbrother” who was constantly pressuring him for new comedic material. The comedian then admits to having a crush on Jada Pinkett Smith and recounts a funny incident between them. At the end of the video, Marlon Wayans exclaims, “Heaven adores me!”
Marlon Wayans: God Loves Me could be Wayans’ most personal project to date
In an Instagram video in support of Marlon Wayans: God Loves Me, the actor and comic mentioned the infamous smack, revealing that it “jolted something” in him.
According to Wayans:
“It took my breath away and forced me to reconsider my own existence, both emotionally and professionally.”
Will, Chris, and Jada were his friends, and his “emotional relationship” with them gave him “a distinct perspective on what happened.”
