Vicki Gunvalson Sued For Fraud! RHOC Fires Back At Nasty Lawsuit Ahead Of Season 14 Premiere

An 82-year-old woman claims that Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson lied to her for years about an insurance policy, so she has hit her with a lawsuit. According to a new report, Joan Lile is suing Gunvalson, owner of Coto Insurance & Financial Services, for fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and breach of contract.

In court documents obtained by The Blast, Lile claims that she and her husband, Robert, purchased a long-term care insurance policy from Gunvalson. The couple wanted a policy that covered future medical premiums for a surviving spouse when one spouse passed away. Lile alleges that Gunvalson preyed on her and her husband’s confidence and trust, and sold them a policy that she promised included a “Lifetime Waiver of All Premiums for a Surviving Spouse.”

“This SWOP benefit was of utmost importance to the Liles because Robert Lile was significantly older than Joan Lile and wanted, above all else, to know that his wife would be protected financially upon his passing,” the legal papers said.

But, Lile says that for more than 20 years, Gunvalson was fraudulent and misrepresented the policy. Lile says that she and her husband paid ever-increasing premiums, but ended up without the specific benefit that they bought the policy for in the first place.

Robert Lile passed away in 2017, and when Joan tried to exercise the SWOP benefit, her insurance company denied her even though they continued to charge her with the policy premiums.

Gunvalson fired back at Lile by taking to Twitter.

“I am not an insurance carrier, I can’t deny a policy,” Vicki explained to a fan who criticized her. “Learn before you make an a$$ out of yourself.”

Her long-time boyfriend Steve Lodge also took to Twitter to defend his lady love.

“Anyone that’s dumb enough to assume that what’s in a lawsuit is fact, is a fool,” Steve wrote under our Instagram post. “Anyone can sue for anything. That doesn’t make it true. In a lawsuit happy society, you would think people would realize that. Thirsty lawyer looking for deep pockets, pathetic.”

The suit comes just after the OG of the OC nearly lost her job on RHOC. Gunvalson missed the first two weeks of filming for the new season while she negotiated her new contract.  She reportedly promised an engagement and wedding to keep her spot on the popular Bravo show.

It isn’t clear if Vicki Gunvalson was able to keep her full-time cast member status or if Bravo demoted her to a “friend,” but she promised an engagement to Lodge so she would have an interesting storyline this season. Now, it looks like she can add a lawsuit to that promise.
